Guess what? I've been a Stitch Fix devotee for over a year now! Last March I was introduced to this service and we're still going strong after 14 fixes. I have gotten so much better at communicating with my stylist and as my style continues to evolve, I continue to tweak my profile and Pinterest board. I've been assigned some amazing stylists along the way (Ashley and Betsy I'm talking 'bout you). If you're new to Stitch Fix and had a so-so experience, I encourage you to stick with it for at least a few fixes. It really is a learning process on both sides! (Click here for more information about how Stitch Fix works.)
I've been on a little hiatus from writing fix reviews so instead of a review, I'd like to share with you how I've tracked down some of my most wanted Stitch Fix items, otherwise known as a unicorn. What's a unicorn, you ask? In the world of Stitch Fix, a unicorn is that elusive item that you most desire. The top that you dream about. The dress that makes you drool every time you see it. You've asked or even begged your stylist for it. You know it's out there somewhere, but it has eluded you.
You can request an item, pin it on your Pinterest board a thousand times, and even pray to receive it, but sometimes despite your pleas your stylist just can't deliver. It might not be in stock in your size or maybe your stylist simply enjoys torturing you (kidding). Whatever the reason, the longer you don't get that item, the more your insanity grows.
And when that happens to me, it becomes my mission to chase down that unicorn.
I'm a member of the Stitch Fix group on Facebook, along with over 38,000 fellow fixers. This group only had about 5,000 members when I originally joined last year. It has grown to staggering numbers! In this group, people share pics of their fixes, post items for sale, and share fashion advice. It's really a lovely community of women! They have a Unicorn Wednesday thread where everyone posts their current obsession in hopes that someone out there might have it and make their dreams come true. But the truth is, with such a large group, it's a miracle if you actually score one of your unicorns on this site. You have to be in the right place at the right time, because surely if there's an item you want, there are probably 100 other women who want it, too. You have to be ready to jump the moment you see it posted because within minutes, it's gone. Even someone with a faster WiFi connection can stand between you and your beloved.
Still, this Facebook group is an excellent place to start the search for your unicorns. This top was a unicorn of mine because I was drawn to the bright colors and casual vibe. I purchased this Pixley top from someone in the group who was doing a closet clean out.

I like the mixed materials and the fun print! I paid $35 (Stitch Fix retail price $44). However, this is an example of how sometimes you have your eye on a particular item and think you would love it, but after trying it on, you are only luke warm about it. It's loose fitting and has a wide/deep neckline that I don't really love. This is what I would call a Unifail or Unidud. #unifail #unidud
Has anyone else ever felt let down once they received their unicorn? I know I can't be the only one! Don't worry, I'll still wear this top, I just need to figure out which necklace to wear with it to fill that wide neckline.

I belong to another Facebook group called Stitch Fix for Less, where members post deals on Stitch Fix brands from places like Amazon, Poshmark, or Zulily. I believe it was a comment within this group that made me think to check eBay for one of my all time favorite unicorns. And I found it! This beauty now belongs to me.
I paid $45 (Stitch Fix retail price $54). The print and the colors are gorgeous and the fabric is super soft. I've had this top pinned forever! There is a gray twin sister version of this top and I might just have to track one of those down now, that's how much I love this top.
Somewhere along the way I discovered TAG Online Boutique. TAG stands for Trendy, Affordable, Gorgeous. TAG carries many of the same brands you will find at Stitch Fix. This top was my unicorn for months. I had it front and center on my Pinterest board and specifically requested it in the note to my stylist because I was obsessed with the florals and stripes trend. I didn't have any luck getting it in a fix, but I was lucky enough to nab it from TAG at the price of $38 (Stitch Fix retail price $54).
It's so lovely in person. The colors are gorgeous. I had to exchange it for a smaller size and then ended up finding a tiny flaw in the smaller size and at that point, they were sold out. The owner Julie was amazing to work with! She let me keep the top and refunded me. Excellent customer service and communication. Click here for the TAG website. So much cute stuff and free shipping on all orders!
Up next is this little beauty I scored from Moxie. Moxie Style is a clothing company that offers a little bit of everything as far as shopping goes! They do style boxes similar to getting a fix, they recently held a massive in-person warehouse shopping event, and after that event they held a sale online via Facebook, which is where I found this Moon & Sky top. Shopping in this type of Facebook sale can be a little intimidating if you've never done it before. You have to claim the items you want by using the proper code word like MINE or SOLD and you need to be speedy. It's a little competitive so of course I love it.
Fun fact...while I was working on writing this post last week, Jackie at Moxie actually went on an all day unicorn hunt at a consolidator to try to find unicorns for Moxie members. How cool is that?
Moxie carries many of the same brands as Stitch Fix and their business description is that 'Moxie Style was born from the love of fashion and a great deal' and they do in fact have great deals! I paid $27 for this top ($54 Stitch Fix retail price). I am a sucker for embroidery and the fabric is so soft!

To check out Moxie, click here for their website, but the best way to get a feel for what Moxie is all about is to join their Facebook group called Moxie Style Trading Group.
Now this, THIS is a unicorn. I had given up on ever finding her. Then, about three weeks ago someone in the Stitch Fix Facebook group mentioned a group called Off The Hanger.
I joined the group and Lord Almighty it's like the holy grail of good deals on Stitch Fix brands. Items for sale in this group are categorized by size and type (like Size medium, Size 8/29 Denim, shoes, bags and accessories, etc). I'm going to be honest...a part of me wanted to keep this group my little secret. But the fabulous ladies behind Off The Hanger are hoping to grow this group, so I'm spreading the word.
I paid $40 for this top ($54 Stitch Fix retail price) and it's lovely and soft and dreamy. I've purchased a few other pieces from the group (because how can I not when the prices are so great?) and although there have been a couple of snafus with my items along the way, OTH has provided great customer service. Go join the group now!
So as you can see, I've had some success chasing down a few of my Stitch Fix most wanteds AND saved some money along the way. There are still a few pieces I'm on the hunt for. There's a similar Moon & Sky embroidered top in a gorgeous purple with 3/4 length sleeves and I have yet to find it. So the hunt continues!
If you have any questions about these groups or sites, please let me know! I would love to help you find your unicorn, too.
For my upcoming fix, I've put my stylist on special assignment: send me a dress for my daughter's 8th grade graduation. I can't wait to see what I get and I promise to share it here with you.
Until then, thanks so much for stopping by!
