Lucky you! It's a two-for-one special review! For these fixes, I was trying to combine two of my favorite things: travel and Stitch Fix. I had a trip to Colorado in August and I requested casual pieces for that trip, especially anything with an Aztec or Tribal print. Fix #7 arrived and it was a bust. I typically get a fix once a month, but Stitch Fix has an option to reschedule using a calendar that shows upcoming available dates. I rescheduled fix #8 for the earliest possible date and since it was estimated to arrive the day we were leaving, I temporarily changed my shipping address to where we would be staying. The plan was for my fix to arrive on the same day I was arriving {rubbing hands together with evil grin as this genius plan falls into place}. We were traveling to Gateway, CO, a gorgeous little slice of red rock heaven but kind of a remote area. Shipping took much longer than promised and long story short, my fix arrived on the morning we were leaving Gateway, like literally 15 minutes before we had to leave. So much for having cute Stitch Fix clothes for the trip! Genius plan = epic FAIL.
The second half of our trip took us to the lively college town of Fort Collins, CO, where we hung out with our good friends for a few days. My friend Jeff is an artist with a camera and he graciously agreed to be the photographer for my blog pics. I got to play model for the day in downtown Fort Collins and I even had two assistants (my daughter and their daughter who held all my stuff and showered me with compliments, the way good assistants should).
Now my dear readers, I have some disturbing news for you. I had six glorious fixes with my virtual BFF Ashley and suddenly, she's MIA. It's okay to gasp, cry, or shake your head in disbelief. I had new stylists for both fixes 7 and 8 and I'm not feeling a connection. I miss Ash. We had a good thing going.
If you are new to Stitch Fix or want more details on how it all works, check out What is Stitch Fix? I'm having so much fun with this service and even after 8 fixes I still anticipate getting that delivery like a kid waiting for Christmas morning.
If you want to pin anything from this fix, just click on the Pin It icon in the upper right corner and pin away!
So let's do this thang.

I'm going to preface my review of Fix #7 by saying I had played around with my style profile a little before this fix. There's a section called 'What do you like to flaunt? What would you rather keep covered?' followed by various body parts and drop down menus where you choose your comfort level for each part. I changed the arms and shoulders to 'I love showing it off!' because I was hoping for short sleeves or maybe a halter neck top. Wish granted! Stitch Fix utilizes an algorithm in conjunction with a stylist to help select pieces for each client, and your style profile answers definitely affect your fix.
Sorry this review is hanger pics only. I didn't bother to shoot photos of me wearing these pieces because I was so eager to get them out of my hands and back to HQ!

Boom, halter top #1. If you like showing off your shoulders, here you go. The fabric of this top was silky and delicious and the fit was flowy. I loved the colors! What didn't I love? The strings that serve as straps. I'm open to trying new things but this was out of my comfort zone by a mile.
VERDICT: Returned
Halter top #2! This was my favorite item from this fix. I wanted this top to work so badly. I must have tried it on a dozen times, just to make sure nothing about the fit had changed since the last time I tried it on.

I loved the print and the embroidery detail. The cut was really flattering around the shoulders and neckline, but the cut underneath the arm was super low, so much so that the side of my strapless bra showed. I wasn't interested in seeking out a cami with halter straps (does that exist?) or buying a different bra to make this one top work. I honestly just needed a smaller size, so I emailed SF customer service about a size exchange, but no dice. Super sad face. Anyway, in order to not lose my $20 styling fee, I ended up selling this to a fellow fixer.
Close up of the print and detail. How cute is that?

The country girl in me liked the bandana look of this top! The colors and print were beautiful and the fabric was super soft, but it was too big on me. Like falling off me too big. I was afraid that even in the next size down it would still be big, so I didn't even bother asking SF for a size exchange.
I don't know if this top is meant to be loosey goosey (how's that for technical fashion terminology), but either way I wasn't feeling it. Again, I would need to wear something underneath it to feel covered. No thank you.

Oh my gosh, this top was gorgeous! The photo doesn't do it justice. Love the Mediterranean vibe and the little pops of color throughout the print.
The fit was a little off on this for me and it wasn't the Aztec or Tribal print I had hoped for. I was really close to keeping this top, but decided I could find something better for my trip. Also, I didn't think this piece would transition to fall because of the colors and this late in the season, I didn't want to invest in a piece that is truly meant for summer.

Really cute shorts with just the right amount of stretch. I am unfortunately not a short-shorts kind of girl. I like them a little longer.
What's interesting about this entire fix is my husband's first impression when I tried it on for him. He said it looked like a good fix for a younger woman. Simmer down, those of you who think I should have thrown a shoe at him for that comment. I actually agreed with him! I truly believe age is just a number and women can dress however they want, in whatever makes them feel beautiful. But for me, the 'short-shorts and halter top with strings for straps' ship has sailed.

So that's that! Changing my style profile definitely got me sleeveless and halter style tops. Successful experiment!
On to Fix #8!
This top was gorgeous. The invoice called it red but in certain light it reads like a deep coral. It was a very light, semi-sheer fabric and had this cute crochet detail at the shoulder.
$58 seemed pricey and I wasn't feeling like 'I must have it', but mostly I didn't keep this because I already have a short sleeve top in a very similar color.
VERDICT: Returned
I had my eye on these shorts literally all summer long! I saw other ladies getting them in their fixes and I had a bad case of fix envy. I came this close to buying them from a fellow fixer in the Stitch Fix Facebook group, but she decided to keep them after all (which only fueled my desire to have them because if she couldn't part with them, they must be amazing, right?).
My bubble was burst a little when I actually did receive them. Made of a soft, silky fabric, they are pull-on with elastic in the back and slash pockets. They're a little bit shorter than I anticipated and I just didn't like the way I looked in them. Note to self: get a tan. Or at least even out the tan you do have.
VERDICT: Returned
This is what I like to call my 'hold up the wall' model pose. Watch and learn, Gisele. Loved this top! It was a luxurious knit material and YES an Aztec pattern. Check out the split back!
I like the split back in theory, but in reality it does nothing but highlight my rear. And not in a good way. In retrospect, I should have tried this top with some different bottoms, like skinny jeans. I was limited to what I had packed for this trip for these photos and once we returned home, I never tried it on again. Ugh. Rookie mistake!
The invoice calls this purple, but it's navy to me.
VERDICT: Returned (wish I had kept)

I had to share just one photo of the absolutely stunning scenery at Gateway Canyons Resort. I know it looks fake but it's real and it's all around you there! When my fix arrived 15 minutes before we had to leave, I put on the first thing I pulled out of the box and dragged my husband outside to take a quick photo. I didn't notice until afterward the insane amount of wrinkles! Yuck.
I had pinned this top because of the colors and I liked the henley style. I did not, however, realize what fabric this was made of. I would be an ironing fool with this top and my ironing skills are subpar, my friends. Subpar indeed.
Gorgeous colors and pattern! The sleeves can be rolled up and secured with a button at the elbow. Pretty, but just not for me.

Here's my keeper from this fix! I had pinned these earrings and I love the pop of turquoise in the center. They are the perfect size for my taste. Not too big or heavy.
Phew! That was a lot of information. If you've made it through this entire review, congratulations! I feel like I owe you a prize or something.
I'm disappointed I didn't have any clothing keepers from these two fixes. By the time fix #8 arrived, I was over needing or wanting clothes for Colorado and with summer drawing to a close, I didn't want to purchase anything I might only wear for a few more weeks. I've turned my focus to fall now, even though we are currently enduring a record breaking heat wave where I live. I can't wait to see what Stitch Fix offers for cooler weather and maybe, just maybe, I'll be reunited with Ashley.
