Here's a fun fact about me: I am a huge fan of Yelp. I use it to make decisions for everything from restaurants to exterminators. If we are traveling to a new city, I Yelp it up before we go to get the best recommendations and plan our trip accordingly. But...I've never written a single Yelp review! My husband is appalled that I use Yelp so much but don't contribute anything to it, otherwise known as a One Way Yelper. Another fun fact is that I'll read dozens of reviews on Amazon before making a purchase. I get excited when I see there are 105 reviews for a product I'm considering and I'll scroll through them until I can't see straight, yet I've only written one tiny review on Amazon.
So what compelled me to create an entire BLOG reviewing my fixes after my very first fix? I was completely inspired by the Stitch Fix concept! I loved the process from start to finish and felt like I had discovered this super cool thing that had to be shared. In reality, Stitch Fix had already been around for a couple of years before I found it, but I still wanted to spread the word. I was deep in a fashion rut and Stitch Fix has helped me climb out of that. If you've read my past reviews, you know not every fix is a slam dunk but guess what? Sometimes the pieces I don't keep are the ones I learn the most from as I continue to define my style. Did that just blow your mind? No matter what, the process itself is always fun.
If you're not familiar with Stitch Fix, it's a personal styling service that's fun, simple, and set to your budget. A box of clothes and accessories chosen just for you shows up on your doorstep every month or however often you desire. It's ideal for someone who never has time to shop or dreads going shopping, someone who needs a closet makeover, or someone who just loves fashion. Head on over to What Is Stitch Fix? if you want more information.
Without further ado, I give you my very first fall fix.

I had requested something plaid for this fix. I'm digging all the plaid shirts I've seen this fall! My stylist said they didn't have a traditional plaid top at the time, so she sent me this. I LOVE it! It's a little bit lumberjack but not over the top.
It's like posh lumberjack.
The pullover style is soooo me versus a button up. The plaid shoulder detail is adorable. I love how the red contrasts with the gray color. The material was on the thin side and would be perfection for fall. Unfortunately, it felt just a smidge too small overall. The length was definitely too short in the front. Huge bummer! I love this top so much, I might request it in a future fix in the next size up.

I'm so ready for fall and cooler temps! However, the day I shot these photos we were in the middle of a record breaking heat wave. I was under the gun to get the photos done so I could return my rejects within the 3 day window so I sucked it up. It was about 95 degrees and I was prancing around in sweaters, jeans, and boots. I suffer for my art. I could have used an assistant or two that day, fanning me and dabbing my forehead in between takes.
Anyway, one of the things I love about Stitch Fix pieces are the unique details they have. This sweater is no exception. First off, it has this subtle popcorn-ish, nubby texture (yeah, that's the best I can do to describe it).

Second, it has blue threads running through it. I immediately thought of pairing it with this gorgeous blue scarf from my very first fix (you can see that review here). I've been struggling with this scarf and what to wear it with and then BAM, this sweater shows up and it's meant to be. It's a little longer in the back and a medium weight, which will be awesome when it's NOT 95 degrees.
I wasn't thrilled with the price of this sweater, but it goes with my scarf and I can't break them up now that they've found each other.

I'm feeling pretty sassy in these pants, ya'll. Love the olive color, love the ponte knit fabric, love the length, love the rise, love it all! I was a little turned off by the price, but after doing some sleuthing, turns out the Stitch Fix price is actually lower than what I found online.
I took a butt pic in these! That's how sassy I was feeling (although I opted not to post it). I have a multitude of outfits planned for fall and winter with these pants. Now if it would only actually BE FALL...

Wow, this is a beatiful piece. It's incredibly soft and has two design elements that I am obsessed with: a cowl neck and a kangaroo pocket. I actually said in my note to the stylist for this fix that I've never met a cowl neck I didn't like. Until now. This sweater is extremely delicate. It's an open weave that is not meant to be in the hands of someone like me. I am a bull in a china shop with delicate things like this. One wear and I'm 100% positive it would be unraveled into nothing but strings.
And let me tell you, I was not reassured when it already had a small hole forming (see evidence above). I could have asked customer service for an exchange, but I just can't see myself wearing this without being nervous the entire time that it's going to get snagged.
Putting all that aside, I felt like a giant mashmallow in this sweater. Super cozy, not super flattering on me.

This is going to seem like deja vu. Delicate item, bull in china shop. The two do not mix. Also, while this was a very pretty necklace, it didn't look like a $58 necklace to me. Maybe I'm not refined enough to be able to spot a Swarovski crystal.
Of course I loved it when I tried it on, but I'm fairly certain the dainty chain would be broken within a week. Maybe even a day.

Overall, this was a good fall fix! I have an amazing pair of olive pants and a sweater with some fun details and I can't wait to wear them. Still hoping to add some plaid to my wardrobe! I've seen some fantastic fall pieces from fellow fixers in the Stitch Fix Facebook group and I'm eagerly awaiting my next fix (as always!).
